Designed by Anna Kamyshan, this chess set pairs a chessboard upholstered in velvety nubuck leather with hand-made porcelain pieces. Kamyshan reinterprets the traditional set along more mystical lines, replacing the knights with four different animals. She describes her chess sets as constructed rather than simply designed: systems of meaning in which every piece carries its own narrative and presence. Made in London and Lviv.

Anna Kamyshan is a Ukrainian-born, London-based architect and multidisciplinary artist of Jewish heritage. Her practice moves between architecture, art, symbolism and ritual, exploring ideas of memory, belonging, spirituality and imagined futures.

In 2026, Kamyshan presented Nabatele: A Synagogue Over Venice as an official Collateral Event of the 61st Venice Biennale. The large-scale installation suspended a shtetl synagogue on a floating rock above the Venetian lagoon, exploring ideas of refuge, displacement and belonging without territory.

Size: 16 inches board; piece sizes vary
