Still Life | I Had Left My Home Early in the Morning
limited edition print
In I Had Left My Home Early in the Morning from the Still Life series, Lilit Matevosyan traces a personal history of displacement through photography, collage, and archival materials. Developed between 2014 and 2017, the project follows the artist's journey across the places her family once called home, from Georgia and Armenia to Sakhalin Island and Sochi.
Interweaving personal archives with contemporary images, the series reflects on migration, memory, and the lasting impact of departure. Moving between individual experience and collective history, the work gives form to the stories of a post-Soviet generation shaped by movement, loss, and the search for belonging.
Lilit Matevosyan is an artist, photographer, and video artist. Her practice explores memory, borders, and identity, rooted in the histories and landscapes of the South Caucasus and the Black Sea coast.
